Hollywood star Naomi Watts has revealed the crippling health battle that left her feeling 'alone, ashamed and like she'd never be sexy again'. The actress, 56, opened up in an emotional Loose Women interview and recounted finding out that she was close to the menopause aged just She told panelist Charlene White and her friend Mariella Frostrup that at the time she was 'trying and failing' to get pregnant at the time.
Naomi said: 'Mercifully, I was able to have two children, but went heavily into symptoms as soon as I stopped breastfeeding my second child.
You know, you're far too young to be in menopause', which kind of just made me retreat further and further into my shame and I wished there was some kind of handbook that told me that it wasn't the end. The actress, 56, opened up in an emotional Loose Women interview and revealed that she was close to the menopause aged just Naomi explained that when she was growing up very few people discussed the menopause and even fewer were aware of the different symptoms.
She explained: 'I did remember when I was given that news, that my mother said she went into menopause at 45 but no other detail around it. I didn't know there was a multitude of symptoms, or however long they went on, or any suffering. She said, 'These were the conversations I never had with you, because my mother never had them with me'. But despite being so open about the condition now, when she first given a health update, Naomi didn't tell anyone because she did not want to be labeled.
She said: 'I certainly was not going to be breathing a word about it around any of my contemporaries or peers. It felt like I had been branded with this label of, 'This is the end, and you are no longer going to be sexy or a leading lady of any kind'.
