Curly and curly hair was often seen with bad eyes, which influenced many people to straighten or hide their curls. The demand for products and information to care for this specific type of hair was also very scarce, but after awareness of the people and influence of the media the curls became accepted and assumed and as a consequence of this the industry began to produce more products for this audience , Thus facilitating their care and modeling.
This acceptance had a great impact on the self-esteem of many women who in turn failed to do the straightening, thus taking on the natural shape of their hair. But this is a time-consuming process that requires a lot of patience, because at this stage the wires are badly damaged and require more attention. But it is possible to make this process easier and more enjoyable with some daily care.
Data collection for this research was carried out through the application of a questionnaire with 12 questions and distributed to 47 women in Curitiba and metropolitan region, who were approached in salons and at home near our location. In the process of transition from straightening to natural yarn, few women opt for the total removal of straightened yarns, most prefer to remove them only by cutting the ends.
In recent years the appeal for women to assume their curls has grown significantly however, there is still a significant portion of women who maintains the chemical straightening for reasons ranging from practicality, through prejudice and not acceptance of their own hair.
