Joe Daly, 32, was playing for the Rose and Crown team at Motts Field, Haverhill, on Sunday morning when his studs caught in the ground, leading to a spiral fracture to his leg.
Horrified players and supporters used coats to keep him warm while frantically calling for an ambulance. Scott Phillips, manager of the Rose and Crown team, said several people immediately rang for an ambulance and were stunned to be told after more than an hour that one had not been sent - because it was not a life- threatening injury.
Picture: Keith Jones Fighting broke out in the Bell pub in Haverhill High Street between 2. Police were alerted by bar staff at the pub that a man had been injured inside. When officers arrived the man started fighting with others inside the pub. He was ejected and the disturbance spilled out on to the street. His shoulder was dislocated and he is expected to be off work until after Christmas.
