Data can then be further filtered by race. CSU lacked consistent definitions in the past, Schwartzkopf said, so CSU cannot compare the most-recent data to previous years. The survey data shows reports of harassment and discrimination based on race or ethnicity, the most reports related to any single protected class.
Other reports were withdrawn, resolved through methods such as mediation or referred to other offices. University officials said non-responses could reflect fear, trauma or other dynamics. The bill builds on Senate Bill , signed into law this fall, which established a new designation for colleges and universities in California that excel at serving Black students.
Schools in the University of California, California State University and California Community College systems, as well as independent higher education institutions, would be eligible for the grants. The bill also creates a governing board to approve or deny grant applications. A grant fund established by the bill could also receive donations, including from private entities. One such order seeks to end diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives in the federal government as well as under federal grants and contracts. A recent CSU report highlights examples of the ways federal funding supports research and other projects on its 23 campuses, including projects that involve students. Department of Energy funds a project to improve the electrical energy system reaching rural tribes in Humboldt County. The White House budget office reversed course on an order to freeze federal funds to programs that could have impacted homeless, veterans, seniors, disaster victims and school children nationwide today.
