Based on a mixed methodological approach combining questionnaires, qualitative interviews, focus groups, and participant observation targeting both adolescent girls and community actors, this study reveals forms of GBV that are little explored among the adolescent population.
Shelter centres, such as Kullimaaroo, are crucially important in this context by providing holistic support to victims of GBV, but such structures are rare in Senegal. We conclude that it is necessary to adopt a holistic approach taking into account social practices to address the complex relationship between GBV and SRHR among adolescents in Senegal.
