The Guardian has reported that she could be considered for a position in the House of Lords if she were to lose her seat in the election. Following the election, she stated on Channel 4 that she was expecting to lose her seat as early as November , when there was a Parliamentary motion on calling for a ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas war.
Debbonaire describes herself as a "northern European socialist β a democratic socialist". She has also said that she supports "fettered capitalism". Debbonaire opposes the decriminalisation of prostitution [ 46 ] and has called for more funding and research to help reform male perpetrators of domestic violence. Debbonaire has also called for student accommodation providers to pay council tax.
