P laying professional rugby comes with plenty of highs and lows, which are made all the better by having a solid support system by your side. This is something Munster's Calvin Nash, who has had a whirlwind of a year after making his Six Nations debut in Ireland's championship opener against France, knows very well.
Although grateful and delighted to represent his province and country, Calvin knows it's important to take a step back from rugby every now and again and has praised his family for always being there. Chatting with EVOKE as the new season of Tackle Your Feelings, a schools online teaching platform, launched about how he watches out for his own mental health, Calvin said he enjoys getting away.
Calvin continued to praise Ciara, who he has been dating for several years , saying she is always there for him no matter the result on the rugby pitch. They help a lot,' he said. Calvin continued: 'When they're there with you [after the big wins], it's even more special. My debut in the Six Nations, my brothers, my dad, and my girlfriend all came over to France. He also gets plenty of support from the other players on the Munster squad.
It hasn't always been easy for Calvin and he admits that a few years ago he was questioning whether rugby was the right path for him. Calvin revealed: 'I struggled with whether I was good enough. Rarely workplaces would have some lad telling you "you're terrible at this" or "why the hell did you make this mistake? As part of the launch, TYF are encouraging teachers and schools nationwide to sign up to the free classroom-based programme to help equip students with tools for building resilience, emotional intelligence, and positive mental health.
