I have always been attracted by the feminine power and especially the magical stage of giving birth. I started my maternity massage journey in January and choose the Californian massage for its wide and lovely benefits. It can perfectly be adapted by some variations to pregnant women and women who have just given birth. Before joining the Ask The Midwife team, I was living on Dingle Peninsula and was offering Californian massages for the women of the local community.
It was an evidence that practicing massage is a real passion and a complement to the midwife I am. What happens if I fell asleep or if I feel very emotional during or after the massage? It is very common for people to fall asleep during the massage and this poses no problems for the massage itself. Halfway through the massage, I will simply invite you to turn over onto your back to continue the massage on the front part.
The benefits of the massage will be well integrated and this is also a sign that you are letting go and need to rest. Similarly, after a massage it is quite common to be very emotional and even to cry.
This session is your time to yourself, to relax and release. All emotions are therefore welcome, and you can feel totally at ease and comfortable in this space dedicated to your well-being. What happens if I need to move because I have a cramps or if I need to blow my nose? Before, during or at the end of the massage, feel free to move when you feel the need to, as certain positions or manoeuvres can trigger movement in some people itching, cramps, discomfort, etc.
