The Oasis Spa moved next door to its former location three years ago and has flourished since. Owner Ken Majernik initially set up the spa in the same building as a hair salon but he found the relaxing nature of a spa clashing with the chatty nature of a hair salon. But now we have a low-profile location with blown-in insulation and sound-proofing.
Majernik said the massage therapists there work as independent contractors, meaning they are each in charge of their own business. Majernik said the idea for the business started after a doctor recommended the use of a full body massage to help through the stress and pains of everyday labor.
Majernik believed he had a specific idea of what he wanted in a spa, so he opened one himself. Simpson specializes in Swedish massages with hot stones and aromatherapy and Oasis also has a licensed esthetician on staff in Corynn Aubry.
Aubry has five years of experience. Massage therapist Billie Dimmig said she does massages for anything from overall relaxation to stress relief or injury recovery and she also specializes in massages for pregnant women. She also specializes in the use of essential oils. The spa is located at E. Main St.
