Costa Rica has over miles of wooded coastline that is absolutely breathtaking. I mean — breathtaking. We found a little slice of Heaven on Earth in a small surf town called Nosara. From what I learned, local associations have kept the beaches clean and the surrounding protected national parks and forest relatively underdeveloped.
We noticed right away that the beaches nearly lacked any development whatsoever. It felt so remote yet had all of the comforts of home.
It was amazing to be a witness to a way of life that has such respect for and appreciation of the environment. Nosara is located on the Nicoya Peninsula in Guanacaste about miles west of the capital, San Jose. The rainy season begins in May and ends in November so the jungle was very green during our stay and was alive with Howler monkeys, iguanas, and a wide variety of birds. It only rained once during our stay, so we enjoyed long sunny days by the pool, at the beach, on hikes, and exploring the many wonders of Nosara and surrounding communities.
Andrew and I enjoyed a date night at La Luna and loved it so much that we made reservations to take our family on our last night. It was the perfect size in the most perfect setting. All of the staff were kind, professional, accommodating, and always ready to offer assistance. Truly, the staff made all of the difference in the world. It was also super easy to eat healthy during our time in Nosara. So, there you have it. The Gilded Iguana was a family-friendly, convenient, relaxing, beautiful hotel for our family and the surrounding communities provided ample adventure and exploration.
From zip lining to waterfall hiking tours — we were not left disappointed. Well, friends, I could go on and on and on and on about this trip. We had an unforgettable time and if you ever have the opportunity to visit Costa Rica — I highly recommend it! Currently trying to convince my husband to move there.
