You may remember how last month I told you all about the new luxury dating app, the Luxy dating app. The main reason I agreed to partner with the Luxy app was because my nickname amongst close friends is Luxy my surname is Lux , and found it hilarious that a dating app should share my nameβ¦but the second reason was because I was so intrigued about how it would work. The first thing I noticed when using the Luxy app was that all the men on it are so polite. It was a refreshing change after the short time I spent on Tinder last year, which I joined after I felt like I was missing out on sharing hilarious stories with the girls in our various whatsapp groups.
Then, after swiping left on a few much older men, I realized one major issue with the appβ¦there was no way to set an age limit. However, the men more my age that I did swipe right on ladies, there are some very good looking men on this app , came up with an instant match β every single one. Which made me worry that they were all doing that thing guys do when they swipe right on every single woman and hope a fraction of them swipe right on them also.
A little too polite for my likingβ¦I mean come on, keep it interesting please. You can see an example below of a guy I matched with in Geneva who was income-verified. So did my experience of the Luxy dating app differ depending on the city I was in?
In London there was definitely a much larger amount of fast cars and Europeans visiting the city for the summer. And in NYC, they love the Moments feature out there, which was great for nosey ole me! But a lot of the guys came across as quite boring and reserved, and just a little too polite for me, and despite the promise of each user being let in based on looks, there were a fair amount of creepy old men on there.
I feel like I need an app inbetween the twoβ¦or ya know, just meeting a person in real life. Catherine Lux is a veteran travel blogger by night and the Head of Content Marketing at Amazon by day.
