In general, it takes about 6 weeks for your body to return to its pre-pregnancy state. If there were pregnancy or birth complications, recovery may take longer. Most women experience heavy to moderate vaginal bleeding after having a baby.
After the first few days, this often becomes a pinkish-brown colour rather than bright red, although it can vary between each person.
It is recommended to use pads rather than tampons, and to change your pads regularly. It's also a good idea to observe the colour, volume and odour of your blood loss.
